Last Post: October 2009

Khuzestan, covering an area of 64,055 square kilometres, is situated in the large plains south of the Zagross mountains, at the border of Iran with Iraq. Its climate is strongly influenced by the coastal winds from the Northwest of the Persian Gulf, that blow warm, humid air from the sea inland during the summer.
The present lichen record of this province is dominated by terricolous lichens. Most recorded lichens have been collected from the surroundings of Ramhormoz to Behbahan, and Behbahan to Deylam.
