A preliminary checklist for lichenized fungi of South Khorasan province, Iran

The province South Khorasan has an area of 69,555 km², located in eastern part of Iran, at the border of Iran with Afghanistan. The area includes a mountain range and a desert, and has a cold arid climate. The only species known so far is from the area between Tabas and Boshrouieh. Its exact situation is not completely clear and the information given by Seaward et al (2004) and Moniri et al.(2005) suggests somewhere between the provinces of Yazd, Razavi Khorasan and South Khorasan. Also the new provincial divisions have brought some changes in that region. Most probably the locality is in south Khorasan.
