The province North Khorasan covers
an area of 28,434 km² and is situated in the northeast of Iran, southeast of
Turkmenistan. The Kopet Dagh mountain range is the highest in this province
with unique vegetation typess with numerous relict species. Thus it is likely
to have significant lichen diversity. So far most of samples were reported from
the Kopet Dagh and the surroundings of the Bojnourd. An asterisk (*)
after a literature reference denotes that the first description of the taxon is
based on type material from Iran.
